Tools we use
- Quickbooks (Windows, Mac, Online)
Businesses have a need to stay organized and up-to-date with their financial obligations. In Quickbooks every transaction is linked to another. The bill payment for a vendor can be used for invoice billing purposes if connected to a client. All the areas of services offered by Xfile Accounting can be managed through QuickBooks. Starting with the creation of a budget, the establishment of bookkeeping and accounting procedures through the controlling part via financial statements, all of these features are connecting on this one platform. The individual needs of the business, often times determined by the industry, will determine whether we would recommend using Quickbooks for Desktop or Online.
- Google Docs
Working with clients is very similar to managing a project. Tasks are being established, different responsibilities determined and deadlines set. Google Docs is an easy, efficient and secure way of synching various parties and to keep everybody on track. The feature to be able to work on the same file at the same time has proven extremely useful in the past.
- Dropbox
Dropbox is for smaller businesses what the networking environment is for larger companies. When working remotely it is cumbersome to exchange files and documents via emails or mail. The connection via Dropbox and the organization of the designated tasks via folders is what makes Dropbox a great asset in our working relationship. From transferring files on a monthly basis for financial statement preparation purposes to collecting all the necessary data for the annual audit (i.e. non-profit companies), Dropbox has turned a cumbersome task into a smooth undertaking.
- MS Office 365
When a business requires a more specific reporting of their financial data, MS Office, and in particular Excel, is the sheer endless toolbox for any database nerd out there. Most customizations, simple data analysis and calculations are processed through this member of the MS Office family. The exporting of data from Quickbooks (and other bookkeeping softwares) is usually one of the first steps of a forensic accountant at work. MS Word is a key tool when it comes to mail merging tasks (something we can train your staff to do to save valuable time).
- Presentation Preparation
Whether it comes to training staff, presenting key progress to a company’s management or to summarize findings in the course of a fraud investigation, the proper application of presentation tools such as PowerPoint or Google Docs can make all the difference. Our presentations are easy to digest, work with the right amount of text and graphics, and get simply to the core of what needs to come across.
