Additionally, she is bilingual and experienced in different cultures by having lived and worked a significant part of her life in Germany and the United States. Bernadette has been combining her professional experience ranging from large corporations to smaller firms to serve as a self-employed business consultant, controller, and bookkeeper for the past seven years. Her education and work life have given her the opportunity to interact with people from various backgrounds including Bernie Madoff before his crimes became known. Bernadette’s brief encounter with Mr. Madoff has kept her intrigued about the characterology of the white-collar criminal.
